I am a psychologist and mom of 3. My interest in saving money began after I completed internship during the Great Recession with a baby, out-of-work spouse, and DEBT! To make ends meet during post-doc, I read as much as I could about personal finance. Minimalism (for stress reduction) and reducing my impact on the environment (for the sake of our planet) are values I developed that coincidentally helped me along my journey.
I am not a Certified Financial Planner and I have no business training. But through the tips I learned, within three years of graduating I paid off my debt and saved for a down payment on a house, all while my spouse became a stay-at-home parent.
Many people are struggling with debt, but few have a plan how to get out of it. Those who learned of my story asked me to share my experiences.
